Gone Fishin'!

Our family "vacation", i.e. Tim and I not working at our paid jobs, started with my extended family reunion. We go camping! There were 35-40 of us this year. Some in RV's, some in tents, and some in cabins. That was us - in a cabin, with air conditioning and showers! It's a great time to catch up with family in a setting without TV, computers, or video games. Well, there was TV available, but not many watched. And I did see a computer, but we didn't play on it! Ahhh, the modern world. . . Anyway, it was forecasted to be the wettest, hottest weekend of the year, of course. Friday afternoon and evening were comfortable. We woke up to rain Saturday morning and it continued to rain for HOURS. The positive side of this is that it forced everyone to stay underneath the BIG awnings that we put over our picnic tables and people talked more than usual. Now, my point isn't that we don't usually talk. My point is that since the weather was bad no one was playing golf or going to the playground, no one was at the lake or at the pool. We were all together! After we'd had plenty of togetherness, the rains stopped and the sun came out to BAKE us! Then some of my boy cousins took my kids fishing while Drew & Tim took their afternoon nap! It was really cute & I have a ton of pictures, but these are just a few of them.

My cousin, Scott, trying to convince Will to hold the fish he caught for a picture. And just to prove what a big heart Scott has - he actually caught that fish but let William reel it in! Scott's going to be a grandpa for the first time in March and he's SO excited! :)

Here's my cousin's son, Adam, that would be my first cousin once removed, right? Lizzie caught this blue gill and, again, wouldn't touch it, so Adam held it for the picture!

Scott trying to teach Theo to cast. By the way, Theo lost his bait at one point, but wouldn't let anyone put another worm on his hook. He didn't want any bait on his hook. So he "fished" without any bait. Goofy kid!

We had to leave the fishing pond at 4:00 for a special camping event. Stay tuned for my next post to find out what it was! :)
