Please pray for this cutie!

This kid is so ornery & cute & strong-willed, all at the same time!

He's also headed into surgery tomorrow morning at 7:00. He was born with urinary reflux. The anatomy of his bladder allows urine to back-flow to the kidneys instead of emptying out as it should. He's at risk for bladder & kidney infections and also damage to the kidneys from the increase in pressure. William had the same condition and had corrective surgery when he was 21 months old. It was actually exactly 7 years ago today! I was just looking through his book to see how he looked afterward and noticed the date - June 13, 2003. It's kind of strange that it's happening all over again 7 years later!

William did great with it and we were home in 3 days. Drew is over 3 years old and already afraid of doctors because he's had so many tests & procedures related to the reflux. We're anticipating that it will be more difficult with him because of his age - old enough to know this isn't fun, but not old enough to reason with him and fully explain what's happening. He'll have a transverse incision, very similar in size & area to a C-section incision (we'll have matching scars!). He might have a stent & drainage tube afterwards, but William ended up not needing them. It would be easier if he didn't have to have them.

We would appreciate prayers for our travels to the hospital, steady hands & wisdom for the Doctor, no adverse reactions to the anesthesia or complications from surgery, and patience and endurance, as parents, to help Drew through the recovery phase. Prayers for our other kids as they spend time with family & friends is also appreciated. We're so thankful for our families & friends that are willing to help us through this time!
