State Fair!

Our last hurrah after vacation but before school started was to go to the State Fair. Drewby stayed home, again, and Nana went with us. Actually, we took my dad to the airport to go visit my brother & then went to the Fair. I love it when it works out like that!

Here is a photo of the pig races! They all had funny names like Hammah Montana. Did you know that pigs will race, and even jump hurdles, for an oreo? That's what they got to have at the finish line. The kids really enjoyed this show! :) As you can see, Porky Pig even got in on one of the races.

This is an acrobat group from Peking. They did some amazing stunts. We actually stayed at the Fair later than planned so we could see them again, that's how much the kids enjoyed watching their show. In this stunt, you can probably see that they've stacked chairs and then pushed up into handstands. It was incredible! My wise 4 year old said, "That's dangerous!" quite loudly when they did this! :)

Don't look now but my boys practiced "shooting" deer. This was a DNR booth. I can't remember what they were "selling" exactly, but they were having shooting practice. Will did OK on his own, but Theo had help from the guy. I don't think we have a lot of hunting in our future, thankfully! :)

Outside the 4-H exhibit building where Lizzie's cat poster was housed. She got a blue ribbon at the State level, with very positive comments about her poster. Great first experience with 4-H this year!

The kids really did great for the day, especially with how hot it was. We were glad Drew stayed home, though, as we wouldn't have been able to stay as long. He got to spend the day with great-Grandma Carol and they had a ball - thanks, Grandma! Needless to say, we were all tired the next day!
